I was a dairy farmer for 35 years, and had my share of buyer’s remorse. I know what it feels like to buy hay, start feeding it, and realize it’s not as represented. I know how it feels to get jerked around and not get an answer. Within this avenue, I built my straightforward guarantee. All our products are certified organic with Nature’s International Certification Services (NICS), and our guarantee is simple: We want our customers to be happy, no matter what. Unfortunately, sometimes a bale sneaks into a pile that may have been baled along the edge of a woods or waterway. And due to the nature of organic farming, we have some weeds. At the farm, we sort the bales as we harvest and again as we load, trying to put aside inconsistent bales. If you get a bale that doesn’t seem quite right, I will make it right! Just call me, explain the problem, and I will adjust the price, refund your money, or replace the bale. Be sure to call me as soon as you determine a problem: Don’t feed it all and then expect an adjustment. The bottom line is that you, as customers, deserve to get what you ordered. Our business depends on my ethics, my handshake, and my word.
As more and more imported organic grain keeps hitting the market, we believe that what we do — direct marketing organic feed and forage grown right here on our farm in southwest Wisconsin — is the best way forward for us, for our customers, and for the local organic movement. With that in mind, look for an exciting year of growth and diversity in 2016.
